At Weston Myer Ltd, we are proud to offer the IsoDisc™ Passive Isolation Device, a cost-effective and reliable solution for mitigating explosion propagation risks. Designed to prevent flame and pressure transmission to upstream equipment or the surrounding environment, the IsoDisc™ is ideal for protecting facilities handling combustible dust. Common applications include air aspiration inlets of mills and clean air ducting connected to equipment used in explosive dust environments.
The IsoDisc™ operates as a passive isolation solution, conforming to EN15089 standards. By default, the valve remains closed. During regular operations, the process airflow holds the IsoDisc™ valve plate open. In the event of an explosion on the downstream side, the IsoDisc™ immediately closes to isolate the upstream process, thereby preventing the propagation of flames and pressure.
The IsoDisc™ system, which is easily installed within process piping, consists of a valve seat, valve guard, valve plate, and springs, with an optional adapter available for enhanced compatibility. Constructed with durable materials such as carbon steel or stainless steel, and incorporating a high-quality steel alloy valve plate, the IsoDisc™ offers robust performance for demanding industrial environments.
Certified as a protective system under EU directive 2014/34/EU (ATEX Directive), the IsoDisc™ provides trusted protection for dust explosion isolation. When combined with explosion protection methods such as venting, flameless venting, or suppression, it further reduces the risk of explosion propagation to interconnected systems or the external environment.
